When
America needed help fighting for freedom and democracy in
Vietnam, I answered the call. I volunteered for service
in the Army and earned assignment to NATO Shape Support Group
in Mons, Belgium.

Division
I volunteered again to serve in Vietnam. I defended the Vietnamese
population and American servicemen alongside our country’s
finest and bravest soldiers in the 101st Airborne Division
until I was honorably discharged in 1971.
I served my country during very difficult times. I
experienced the value of courage and sacrifice in very personal
terms, earning the leadership skills that have helped me throughout
my life. I will take these skills and values to Austin
to tackle the tough issues we face in District 101.
