Republican Thomas Latham - Protecting
& Improving Our Community
Shortly
after returning from Vietnam, I answered another call for
service. I started as a patrolman with the Garland Police
Department in 1971, protecting families and businesses in
my community. During my three-decade career, I worked
hard to earn the rank of Commander. I provided leadership
for more than 70 men and women under my command, safety and
security for my community, and effectively managed multi-million
dollar budgets until I retired in 2001.
My
commitment to community service extends beyond 30 years with
the police department. I serve as a parishioner of New
Liberty Baptist Church, a member of Friends of Texas Public
Schools, a member of the Mesquite Rotary Club, a volunteer
for the Texas Chapter of the National Organization Caring
for Kids (NOCK), and a Councilmember for the Town of Sunnyvale.
District 101 has been my home for most of my life.
Making it safer and more prosperous has always been –
and remains – my top priority.
