Texas Parent PAC Endorses Rep. Thomas
Latham
for House District 101
Parents, grandparents, and parents-to-be say Latham
is the best candidate to support high-quality public schools.
The bipartisan Texas Parent PAC endorses Republican Thomas Latham for reelection
to the Texas House of Representatives in House District 101. Representative
Lathamstands up for children and is a strong advocate for public education
at the Capitol.
“Thomas Latham is honest, independent, and a man
of integrity,” said Pam
Meyercord, a Texas Parent PAC board member and public school advocate. “He
understands that high quality neighborhood public schools are the key to
future prosperity for individuals and our state.”
Latham was born and raised in Mesquite. After serving
in the U.S. Army in Europe and in Vietnam, he came back
to serve locally for 30 years on the
Garland Police
Department, where he rose through the ranks to become Commander. After
retiring from the Garland PD, he remained actively engaged
in the community and was
appointed to the Sunnyvale Planning and Zoning Commission in 2002. In 2003,
he was elected to the Sunnyvale Town Council and was reelected in 2005.
He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in
2006.
Latham has been married to his wife, Mary, for nearly
35 years. She is a retired teacher, and their daughter,
Leslie, also is a teacher. Together,
their family
helped create an esteemed statewide organization, Friends of Texas Public
Schools.
Latham’s knowledge and life experiences make him
a particularly effective representative. House District
101, as well as the entire state, benefits by having a
legislator of his caliber. Latham has a proven record of
leadership and commitment to Republican values and Christian
values.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer in the Latham reelection
campaign, to donate money and in-kind services, and to
vote and bring friends to the polls during the February
19-29 early voting period and on the March 4 election
day.
