Association of REALTORS® endorses Thomas Latham
Texas’ largest association pledges its support
January 31, 2008 – AUSTIN – The Texas Association
of REALTORS® today announced its decision to endorse
Thomas Latham in his re-election to the Texas House of
Representatives to represent District 101.
Making the statement last week, Chairman Randy Jeffers
applauded Latham’s unyielding commitment to Texas
homeowners. “Real estate continues to be a driving
economic force in Texas,” said Jeffers. “Thomas
Latham has vowed to represent the concerns of Texas homeowners,
which is why the Texas Association of Realtors has pledged
its full support and endorsement.”
Currently, Texas ranks 42nd out of 50 states in homeownership.
Electing lawmakers who understand homeowners’ concerns
and act accordingly to bolster homeownership in Texas is
the association’s top priority this election season.
As a member of the Texas House for more than two years,
Latham has been involved in the political process at all
levels, promoting policies and supporting candidates who
advocate property rights and homeownership throughout the
state.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the 90,000
members of the Texas Association of Realtors,” Latham
said. “As small business owners, Texas Realtors make
the dream of homeownership more affordable for all Texans
and I will strive to help support this important goal.”
With more than 90,000 members statewide, the Texas Association
of Realtors expects to be a considerable grassroots force
for Thomas Latham.
Texas Realtors have championed a number of legislative
issues enhancing the lives of Texans, such as billions
in property tax reductions in 2006, preventing a tax of
$600 or more on the personal vehicles of independent Texans
and supporting consumer protections in home equity lending,
to which many attribute Texas’ resilient real estate
market. To learn more about Texas Realtors’ legislative
