WACO - The Texas Farm Bureau Friends of Agriculture Fund
(AGFUND), Inc.
has endorsed the re-election of Thomas Latham, a Republican
State
Representative from Sunnyvale. Latham is running for re-election
in
District 101 of the Texas House of Representatives, which
includes
portions of the Dallas area.
"Thomas Latham is one of those urban legislators
whose
support has been vital to addressing the needs of rural
Texas," said
Kenneth Dierschke, president of Texas Farm Bureau and AGFUND. "Mr.
Latham understands agriculture and its importance to the
Texas economy.
His experience and conservative approach to government
are important in
Austin."
A retired commander in the Garland Police Department,
Latham
is completing his first term as a state representative.
He serves as
vice chair of the Law Enforcement Committee and also serves
on the Urban
Affairs Committee. He and his wife Mary reside in Sunnyvale.
The Texas Farm Bureau is the largest farm organization
in Texas,
organized in 207 Texas counties. AGFUND is Texas Farm Bureau's
political action fund. It is a legal entity separate from
the Texas
Farm Bureau and may endorse and contribute financially
to political
candidates.
